Great review, Harry! I loved it, but totally agree about the ending. I feel like the movie was so intense for so long that we were just numb to that reveal and end. Had they had just a bit more restraint, it could’ve landed better.

Restraint is so underrated in a horror! Good call Sean

The music stopping after the kiss scene and then starting again when they resumed the kiss had me dying. I thought it was a ton of fun! The plot didn't work for me either in a lot of ways, but overall I agree with your assessment of the movie. Great review! Side note, the transition of the car crash into a woman twerking at the club near the opening of the movie had me very worried for how the movie was going to go, but I'm glad we made it past that.

Thanks Emma! It was very fun indeed.

I thought the car crash transition was quite amusing honestly, but I can see why it might be a little concerning 💀 horror-comedy is a fine line. They kinda gave up on making this film funny overall, which is a shame but I still think it's very solid.

Can’t wait to watch! It sounds like a blast. I saw a clip of the tongue kissing scene, and I loved it lol

I really loved Rise, but I know folks feel mixed about it too. Interesting to see you like this one above it!

A blast indeed!

What did you love about Rise?

The claustrophobic setting of the apartment really worked for me!

Nice review. Very interesting to see that you enjoyed this over Rise. Strangely enough, I like the high-rise apartment environment of Rise, and it lends itself well to the claustrophobia. Nice job clocking the bathroom choking scene, I wish they went as hard with the camera movement as they did with the carnage.

The high rise setting is excellent, to be fair.

Agreed on the camera movement. More Raimi vibe needed.

Thanks for reading man!

I have been holding off on watching any of the new Evil Dead movies. They look pretty brutal. I guess they're worth watching, though?

I mean it depends what you're looking for, man. I enjoyed the reboot a lot, the second one not so much, and this last was perfectly enjoyable

Only one way to find out, I guess! I didn’t think I would like When Evil Lurks for the same reason, and now it’s one of my 2026 faves.

I was with you fully until the claim this one was better than rise. Evil dead rise is top of the group for me I just loved it so much!

The kissing scene, the only thing I could think of was how on earth the actors survived it cause that much gooop and blood would’ve triggered my gag reflex 😂

I have to agree with the twerking transition between scenes. I was cackling.

It was a fun ride overall! Kept with the theme but I just think the domestic violence plotline and the awful cgi dampened it for me. Were they trying to play at something with her ptsd flashbacks? I thought they presented them in a similar manner to how they were showing the deadites starting to change….and it got me thinking was he part deadite all along and that’s why he was so angry. Probably my horror brain just running out into left field.

And on the deadite voice change, I’m with you. The dad and the mom both had some lines I couldn’t really understand.

Great write up as always ! 🖤

Interesting to think he might've been part Deadite all along. I reckon he was just a real piece of shit but it's food for thought.

I was briefly wondering if some version of Ash was the grandfather, but you never know.

Anyway, I'm super glad you enjoyed the film and my thoughts! Absolutely makes my day getting a comment like this.

Evil Dead Rise had stuff going for it but on sheer brutality I enjoyed this one more!

Fun how much we agree on!! Maybe we should collab sometime, if you'd be interested!

On the brutality claim I can see it then!

And how funny I too was trying to figure out if they were trying to make Ash the grandpa.

I’d love a collab!

Gimme a message and we can make a plan!

I started reading this but stopped bc I didn't want to know anything more before I saw it but I will say one thing-all the Evil Dead flicks make me laugh, some times uproariously (sp?) bc the gore and violence is so over the top. Maybe that's a subject to explore?

Sorry if you got any spoilers!

That is an interesting topic. I definitely think it's one of the best elements of the Evil Dead films, if not the best. I'll rest on it a while, as I've just finished my miniseries on the franchise, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind! Thank you!
