What this movie lacks in visual innovation, it makes up for in carnage. I will always be biased towards the Sam Raimi trilogy, but as far as nu-Evil Dead goes, this is pretty solid.
I loved this picture when it came out despite all the naysayers that pissed and moaned about how it wasn’t full of comedy gags. This is a visceral chainsaw to the face reboot and it delivers. Great analysis/ recap. And those GIFS. 💯👍
Hell yeah!! Thanks Julian. I think taking Evil Dead in a largely gag-free direction was an inspired move. Plus, we got the TV show anyway and that's pure comedy.
I definitely have to watch this now!
Yessss

We're in agreement. I have a lot of respect for the film, as it's standing in a big shadow.
This was one of those remakes that ended up being better than I thought it was going to be. Excellent posts and great breakdown of the movie
Thanks Josh! Honestly it's got me very excited to see Evil Dead Rise. Have you watched that one as well?
yes I have and that one was also a surprise
I like the concept but I'm curious to see how it delivers
