An Unexpected Surprise

Thank you, Meditations On Permafrost, for the nomination. For anyone else reading, the challenge was to write a poem about oneself and their birth month. Meditations did a far better job than me, I’d warrant, but here’s mine:

Attached, a dramatic reading from matt hatter - a talented poet himself.

Walpurgisnacht
I dance in the wild heat of May
Like a tongue of flame
That leaps and spins and whirls
Out of the fire,
A heathen fire of May Magick,
Like the flowers that burst into bloom
I am born again each year,
A phoenix in my own right.

I can never find the name of this painting, despite seeing it a hundred times - enlighten me below, so I can credit the artist

I wrote this while walking home from work, so frankly it’s not my best. However if you did like it, my BuyMeACoffee has more like it.
